January happenings

Baylor loves balls!!! loves them!!! I have never seen him get to excited and he just squeals so loud and gets tense and smiles so big whenever we get out Dean's basketball. It makes me laugh and I hope it's a sign that he will enjoy sports because in this family we love to play with balls!
Baylor also likes to "give mama kisses" big ole wet ones! and I love them too!

Since getting out of school and Dean's IFA schedule we can actually have a more consistent date nights so every weekend we try to squeeze in some time alone and while we were in cache valley we went to play racquetball and lift some weights at the Smithfield rec. center cuz we had 2 free passes. Shalese and her friend came along too it was fun and of course Dean won a game or two. I can't lie I do love being married to him and his athletic body :)

1/16/14---Baylor 7 months

Our Baylor man at 7 months:

*said his first word

*wears 12-18 month clothes

*crawls backwards (more like

scoots backwards)

*loves balls and balloons

*loves to bath with Mya-giggles

Baylor's first word….."Da Da"-1/25/14

We made a visit to Richmond and Franklin for Boone's 22nd bday. On saturday we were in Franklin and I picked Baylor up off the floor and over my shoulder he could see Dean and he said, "da da" he didn't babble or anything and looked straight at Dean! I thought for sure he would say mama first since he is such a mama's boy and I have been practicing with him too, but oh well

the first thing the nurse said when he was born was, "look at those eyelashes!" and people still comment on them. he is one lucky boy

Mya hopped in bed with me after her and dad ate breakfast (some mornings I'm too tired to join them) and after dad left we both just laid there together quietly while Baylor was asleep in the other room, then Mya takes her thumb out of her mouth and caresses my cheek with her soft little hand and says, "mom you're so cute"---I smiled and thought how blessed I was to have her and for her to boost my self esteem cuz everybody knows that children are the most honest creatures!

Mya has exotropia (sp?) in her left eye-it drifts to the outside basically its kind of lazy-doctors have kept an eye on it since she was 3 months old and its not correcting itself so she has to have a patch on her good eye for 2 hours a day for 2 months then they will check her again. It is supposed to make her drifting eye focus and work harder. Dean put it on her when he got home and he was so sweet, he put it on then cupped her face and told her how beautiful she was and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Dean is a wonderful father and I think that Mya is so blessed to have him and I hope they always have a good relationship.

Temple Square Lights and the Trax

The friday after Christmas we (our neighbors the Peterson's and the keegly's) decided to ride the front runner to Salt Lake and see the temple lights. I really liked the train and Mya thought it was pretty fun too. We had a good time laughing and visiting and the girls loved climbing up and down the seats :) On our way there Baylor had a blow out diaper and i changed him but didn't have a bag to put the diaper in and my diaper bag was chuck full and there weren't any garbages on the train that I could see so I set it next to my seat and bag thinking I will just grab it and when we get off I will throw it away but of course with my brain I forgot it! I didn't remember until we were riding the train back to Provo. I felt so bad but everyone else just laughed.

Kiki and John Keegly and their adopted granddaughter Vivi-They are the sweetest people ever and they are from Oklahoma and John makes the best southern food, we tried his jumbalia (spelling?) and it's amazing! they gave us the seasoning and the recipe for Christmas, that was one of Dean's favorite gifts. In the back is Neil and Mandy Peterson (who is hiding behind John) we always have some good laughs with them. I play volleyball with Mandy. their girls are Taylor (in the stroller) and Holly and she is holding their boy just younger than Baylor, Linden.

I like this pic for 2 reasons: 1-Baylor didn't cry the whole trip and basically was asleep for most of it until Dean gets the camera out and he starts fussin. :) and 2-Vivi is playing school with the girls and using a poster for their class, the poster is of a safe place for women to drop off their babies if they don't want them. I'm just glad they were too young to understand the poster.

I love temple square and I would love to take the train again when its warm and go do a session at the temple where Dean and I were sealed.

Christmas 2013

This is the first year of my whole life that I didn't get to celebrate Christmas Eve at my Gma Smiths. We still had fun and we lit a candle to remember our loved ones that have passed on and sang Silent Night, Mya is a beautiful singer. We had dinner with Mindy and Scott and their kids and just visited then we headed home and opened our Christmas jammies-we all had matching camo ones. (But all Mya would wear to bed was the cinderella dress that Gma Hansen made her, its a love-hate gift for me).

Even though it was hard without my Gma Smith this year I was also really excited because Mya is older and she is understanding Santa and it was just us 4 in our first house!  Mya crawled into bed with us in the middle of the night (this has been routine lately) and then we asked her as we were waking up in the morning if she wanted to see what Santa brought her. She got excited and said, "ya" when she got to the living room she just stopped and pointed at everything and said what they were, "oh a kitchen, a baby doll, a dress, fruit snacks..." it was so funny then she jumped up and down and started looking at everything.

Dean got an air compressor and a shirt, he got me a chi flat iron and some nice running pants. And Baylor man got clothes and a train that he shares with Mya. It was a wonderful, simple, pleasant Christmas. Mya and Baylor got the fisher price nativity earlier this month from Gma Hansen so we have practiced all month to understand that Christmas is when Jesus was born. Mya is very smart and for the most part she understood. I am so thankful for Dean and Mya and Baylor and the time we spent together!

Christmas Eve...Mya would not take this dress off for 3 days! But after some crying fits she would at least let me change her underwear and shirt underneath

Dec. 21 and 22-Hansen party

The weekend before Christmas we went up to cache valley and had a hansen reunion in richmond on saturday. we went sledding behind the four wheeler-Mya isn't much of a winter girl too, she liked sledding for a bit but then spent the rest of the time on the four wheeler. Mya was concerned with us when she saw dean and I fall off the sled. But we kept reassuring her that it was fun:)

We ate a big lunch and exchanged gifts. The adults exchanged tshirts. This was fun, Annie got me one that says, I love Idaho. It made me tear up! I was a little homesick and it really struck me. Dean got an Aggie tshirt and tickets to the USU bball game that night, so we had a fun date night with dillon and annie. Shalese got a tshirt from kirsten that said, I like to party and by party I mean take naps!, it was perfect for her because we always tease her about her taking naps all of the time!

Santa also came to our party and Mya jumped right up, stared at him for a second, then excitedly ran right over to him and sat on his lap! She wasn't scared at all! it was so funny to watch her! she told him she wanted a baby doll. Baylor could've cared less who was holding him but I think he won't like him next year but maybe he will.

On sunday we went to franklin and exchanged gifts with my parents and brothers. Mya loved her minnie mouse she got from my mom and she hugged Dustin after she got little mermaid 2 dvd from him! Dustin just loves his nieces and giving dvds as gifts. He is so thoughtful and so fun!
After that we went to church in franklin and Mya went to primary with my mom because she is the president and she loved it! we had to leave a little early and she cried when we pulled her out! I think it is her dream to be in primary. I'm sure mostly because of singing time:) Then we headed on home. It was a fun weekend

Snowy Santaquin!

People kept telling us that Santaquin gets a lot of snow but they also have said that it has shorter winters than cache valley. Well so far its true that they get a lot of snow! Dean said we got about 12 inches in the 2 days we got our first snow storm! I just hope that everyone is right about having a short winter, cuz i'm not much of a winter person.

Baylor 6 months-Dec. 16th
