Happy Birthday to me from the stork...he brought a pink present!!!

yep! we are having a girl!!! wow were dean and i suprised!!! in my first trimester everyone was telling me their symptoms and that if you are really sick its a girl, if you crave sweets its a girl, if you don't feel like having "fun" in the bedroom with your spouse its a girl, etc... well i wasn't that sick and i hated the idea of sweets so not all wives tales are correct. i like it like that though because it makes it more fun! anyway...i have had numerous dreams of a baby girl with brown hair and blue eyes but in my mind i had a boy. my brother dustin said girl (and he hasn't been wrong since) and the chinese gender chart says girl. so there you have it, i guess it just shows that whatever heavenly father wants you to have you will have!!:)

the appointment went well, the doctor said everything looks good. i can still run and do a 5k in a couple weeks so thats good. i really like my doctor and feel so comfortable and calm around him.
so i am 17 weeks- i feel great except when it gets really late at night then i feel yucky-i have gained some healthy weight-i have felt the baby move once so far

dean made a phone call to his mish president and told him the news of the baby and he gave dean some wonderful counsel "girls are so special" and "the relationship a father has with a daughter is so precious" but we also found out that he has leukemia and what an amazing journey it has been for him. i know you all don't know him but he has been a big part of dean's life and we love him like family, so if you could remember President Price in your prayers that would mean a lot to us

Happy 3 year anniversary!!!

well it's been 3 fast years since i had one of the most amazing experiences in my life...attending BYU Hawaii!!! i have made friends that i never want to forget!! i'm grateful i got to know them and they are a part of my life!
some of my best friends...jess, lauren, bonnie

and i also had some adventures that will always be a part of me!!! i love adventures and trying new things....jumping off waimea rock (im in the red)

swimming with sharks!!!

and sky diving!!! i love the ocean and the sea life so this was fun not only jumping out of an airplane but in this pic i am probably looking at the pod of humpback whales!! so cool!!
well happy 3 years and i can't wait to go back and relive some moments there with my spouse!!!!

Farewell Boone-O and hello baby bump

well first of all dean's baby brother left on his mish to portugal!! he is such a good kid and we are not worried about him cuz he always gives his best and he has a great testimony but it does feel weird to have him and shalese gone so dean's parents are empty nesters right now. it's weird to think that it will be 2 years before the whole hansen fam is back together and by that time our baby will be over a year old!!! wow! that's too weird to think about!
well here i am at 13 weeks! (that is what the sign says). this week was awesome cuz i felt the baby "flutter" it was the strangest feeling, i was laying in bed trying to fall asleep and in my lower abdomen it was like a hummingbird or something flapped its wings then stopped. at first i thought it was air or something but my doctor said it was probably the baby fluttering!! so cool!!! this was my last week of being sick! yahoo!! i still feel pretty lucky cuz i never threw up but just felt nauseated all the time.

after playing basketball at 11 weeks! that's why i look pale and sweaty!

after working a swing at the hospital this is 10 weeks! my scrubs were so loose that i had to pull them back.

and here i am at 9 weeks...
here some little info about the pregnancy (this is mostly for my record keeping so you don't have to look at this if you don't want)
how many weeks are you? 14
any food cravings? no but the foods that help me feel better are wendy's french fries with ketchup and fruit
how much weight have you gained? i think about 5 pounds
worst moment? feeling so sick and wanting to throw up but couldn't i had a big test coming up but i spent the night laying on the couch instead and dean bought me french fries and that helped (my poor gallbladder!)
best moment? seeing the baby on the ultrasound and seeing it wave it's hands at us!!
what are your current plans/projects? i am just going to try and get through school and pass my boards then i will start with the decorating and the fun stuff!

it's love at first sight!!!!

yup! we're having a baby!!! A little Bean-O! (that's what my brother and his family are calling it-cuz of Dean-O) haha well we are super excited!! we found out the day we left samoa and told our family on christmas. as soon as i can figure it out i will post the video of when i told my family and their reactions.
well the doctor says everything is looking great. i'm 10 weeks along and due august 10th. i haven't puked yet (knock on wood) but i do feel nauseated in waves along the day, but nothing that food can't cure!!
ps sorry the pic flipped on me--the head and two little hands are at the bottom and it's bum is at the top...it was so cute seeing it wave both hands at us. dean thought it was pretty neat:)

more samoa and skiing....

here's a few more pics i'm not sure if i can post anymore cuz it makes me sad that we left...i'm grateful that we went but it was hard to leave...

this was just one spot (my knee) of where the mosquitos got me during the night! i had much more on my hand and legs

loadin up to go home after church! this guy i think was the only one in the ward that had a vehicle so he was the driver. i just loved how the really old lady towards the back sat cross legged in the back of a truck

here is the inside where dean and i slept in our first beach fale

i had to take a pic of this little blondy samoan girl on the ferry that was taking us to another island. she is gorgeous!!!! i fell in love with her when her dad was playing with her and making here laugh!

this is the outside of our beach fale our first night. ya we were right on the ocean!!!! i slept so good with the waves crashing!

dean and i after getting out of the temple. this temple is so pretty! i will never forget it.

so dean and i got some xcountry skis for cheap this summer and decided we should try them out on his day off but the previous days were like 40 degrees so the snow was gone and we got off the trail to go on this hill where there was a little but we still were running into sage brushes, but i loved it! i had so much fun laughing and playing with dean. i was going down this hill and there was a line of bushes i was headed towards so i stopped by falling on my knees but i guess i was going faster than i thought cuz i then after falling on my knees slowly fell on my chest and my hands were caught behind me so i couldn't stop myself. oh too much fun!

good ole rusty and i

oh he makes me laugh!!!

SaMoA SaMoA

wow! what a trip! i want to write about each day but it would take me a week. so ill write a little here and a little there... here are a few things. i just have to say tho that i felt a few things over there besides happiness 1-it is the most beautiful place i have ever laid eyes on! green lush jungle everywhere 2-the people over there need to show us in america how to act. they care about others first, they have nothing and are still happy, they love to play! (especially volleyball and rugby) 3-i was so happy not just because we were on vacation but my heart was full when i would hear dean talk so fluently in samoan and hear stories about members, baptisms, miracles, families etc. the bishop and his wife that we visited said " Hansen! i thought you never come back" and i had to laugh when they said "Hansen are you sick? you look skinny" obviously dean translated it for us. we all cried when we said goodbye to them. the missionary program in this church is amazing!!! it is truly inspired by the Lord and blesses more than just missionaries but their families and friends and members, nonmembers, everyone! anyway here are some pics...
everyone has pigs and chickens roaming everywhere and there are wild dogs sick nasty ones

this is Toese. i thought i was going to kidnap him! haha kidding but really he is the cutest thing ever!!!! dean said that on his mish he loved playing with him and teasing him. he kept saying to us "i love you" in broken english. he sat by us in church and kept talking to dean in samoan. i miss his sweet face

this family is so fun! the dad is david tavita-1st counselor to the bishop. in their culture the young women serve the guests food and they and the women fan you from the heat and the food from the flies while you eat and they don't eat. they eat after you leave. i felt like roalty and i hated it. it was normal to them but i felt so funny but the food was amazing!!!

we went to papaseea-which means rock slide. it was natural made slides on rock it wasn't hard on our behinds at all like i thought it would.

before we left i showed a pic of a starfish on the internet and it was blue and skinny i told dean that would be fun to see one of these. he said that we probably wouldn't but look i found not just one but five while snorkeling. dean is holding it in this pic even tho i found it and he won't admit that i was right about the starfish:)

this was near our beach fale "house". this was the side of the island that got destroyed by the tsunami last year and they rebuilt the fales. it was so sad and scary to hear the ladies there tell about it. they said it was weird cuz the night before the tide was super low unnaturally low (cuz the wave was sucking the water to create the wave) and in the early morning they could see it on the horizon coming toward them and they hurried up a nearby hill and watched it swallow up their resort. a lot of people fish here in old fashioned canoes and they fish in the morning. many died out at sea. it was so heart breaking to hear it.

my favorite family. the bishop and his wife, elenise. this is the ward dean served most his time in. they (everyone in samoa) live off of nothing and are so happy, we sat on their mats in their home which doesn't have much-no plumbing inside, hardly any electricity, ants everywhere, mosquitos, etc-elenise made me a samoan dress a long top and a long skirt (she made it in one day on the floor with an old sewing machine) they fed us a huge meal and they make their food on an "umu" basically hot rocks and a fire!
well i'll get some more in later. thanks for all your comments no my previous blogs!
