Halloween 2013

Mya was minnie mouse this year for Halloween and we got a picture that afternoon at aunt mindys house with the cousins.

Mya was running away from Easton in this picture because of his iron man mask..:)

haha i love this pic of mya covering her eyes and baylor scowling
Dean didn't dress up in his samoa gear this year so it was just us 3 that was festive. At least he came trick or treating with us. Our neighborhood here in Santaquin is perfect for trick or treating, the houses are close and everyone is friendly but my favorite part was handing out candy at our first house! i'm not sure why but it made me happy

November 2, 2013- Grandma Franta Estelle Lewis Smith passes away...

My closest, spunky, petite grandma smith passed away. My parents were at our house, we had just gotten done with a luncheon we had after my niece Sadee was baptized, and Dean and I were getting ready for a Jazz game we had tickets for and my parents were going to watch Mya while we went with Dean's friend Russell Ward and his girlfriend. My Uncle Brad called my mom and we heard my mom start to cry and we knew what the news was right away.
Grandma fell the week before but she was doing ok, she couldn't really walk but she didn't break anything and her mind was still as sharp as ever and she was still living at her own house, so I was surprised she went so fast. She had complained of a stomach ache that day and my uncle lewis and brad were taking her to the hospital when she passed on the way there. A few days before she fell I went to Franklin with the kids to finish some sewing projects for Halloween (I made a post on that visit) and of course when ever I go to Franklin I visit her. I walked over with the kids to visit my beloved Grandma. Mya loves going over there because she gets an "all day sucker" and she loves her toy box. I remember thinking as I was heading back to Santaquin after that visit, 'I'm not going to see grandma again' but I disregarded that thought because Dean and I were planning on coming back to Franklin for our anniversary which was only a little more than a week away (nov 7th) and I thought I would see her again then. I know now that was the Spirit speaking to me and making sure I told her I loved her and hugged her. I'm so thankful for that tender mercy. I called grandma the day before she passed just because I felt like it and I asked how she was doing and told her that I loved the night stand she gave me for our house. I am so glad I called her! I know it was the spirit guiding me so that when she passed I wouldn't have any regrets that I didn't talk to her and tell her I loved her.

I was raised right next to her and always remember having vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, gma playing cards with her friends, playing with her jewelry, looking at her old photos and hearing all her family history stories (I am so proud of my ancestors and the legacy they left), her chopping her bottom dentures up and down to tease the kids, her smell, her old house with the big front porch swing, her beautiful yard, repainting her car port, her hair color changing quite often, her tv on so loud usually on a Jazz game, her all day suckers and cookies, her mink fur coats, her antiques (a violin built in the 1700s, a cane made by Brigham Young, her mothers wedding shoes... just to name a few), her makeup, her competitiveness in playing cards, playing checkers that she kept under the couch, her rock coffee table, peeing in her plant holder thing that looked like a toilet to me, swinging on her swing, her wishing well, her seashells, her lilac bushes, Christmas eve parties, her 3-wheeler, camping with her and gramps, watching the Idaho Days fireworks on her front law, etc.....

My entire life has her in it!!!! She was a spitfire and she loved everyone! She was so proud of her posterity and her ancestors and talked about us all the time.

I love her and miss her more than words can describe!!!

carving pumpkins

Before we carved normal jack o lantern faces into our pumpkins I wanted a pic of the kids' names on the pumpkins that Geraldine does for all of the grandkids. She scratches their names when the pumpkin is young and it scabs over when it grows so their name is permanent! cool huh! I love it and was kind of sad to see it get cut into but that's ok cuz Mya's disgusted reaction to the insides of the pumpkin were worth it!

(ha ha Michelle's son Kyle photo bombing:) )

Baylor's first time eating rice cereal

Baylor is 4 months and had his first taste of rice cereal. Yum he loved it! I have a feeling he is going to weigh more and eat more than Mya did. He already loves his tongue so I knew he would love the sensation of a spoon on his tongue

Let me help dad!

Mya's happenings...

One night while Dean was tucking Mya in he was laying on the floor next to her bed and he hears her say, " Amy hungry? want to eat?" and he looks up and she has her cabbage patch doll up to her chest with her shirt up!!! hahaha she knows too much!

Last sunday was the primary program and when Mya started to hear them sing she jumped out of her seat in the pew and stepped out into the aisle to get a better look and she started singing the songs! she knows most of them and is usually on key and she is also loud:) everyone kept looking back at her and smiling and we got so many comments on how smart she is to know the songs. She just loves to sing and I hope she nourishes that talent because I see it as such a blessing to her and others around her.

she makes us happy!

Baylor loves his tongue :)

Baylor LOVES his tongue!!!
